Large images slowing down your WordPress site?
Unoptimized images are one of the biggest reasons WordPress websites become slow.
Large image files increase page size, delay page loading, and negatively impact Core Web Vitals and SEO rankings. Manually optimizing images can be time-consuming and easy to forget.
CodePros Image Optimizer solves this automatically.
The plugin automatically creates WebP versions during upload, helping reduce image file sizes while preserving visual quality. Smaller images can help improve page-load performance, user experience, and Core Web Vitals.
Key Features (Free)
- WebP Conversion – Every image you upload is automatically converted to WebP format
- Auto-Optimize on Upload – Compression settings are applied automatically the moment an image is added to your library
- Quality Control – Adjust the WebP compression level from 0 to 100
- Frontend WebP Serving – Serve WebP images automatically to supported browsers
- Image Filtering – Filter images by type, date, and conversion status
Pro Features
Upgrade to the Pro version to unlock advanced optimization tools.
- Bulk Optimize Existing Images – Convert previously uploaded images to WebP
- Scheduled Optimization – Run conversions during low-traffic hours
- S3 & R2 Storage – Sync optimized images to Amazon S3 or Cloudflare R2
- CDN Delivery – Serve optimized images globally through a CDN

Built for websites with large media libraries or frequent image uploads.
How It Works
When you upload an image, the plugin uses the Imagick PHP extension to create a WebP version alongside your original — your original file is never modified or removed. Supported browsers automatically receive the smaller WebP version; browsers that don’t support WebP receive your original image.
Requirements
- WordPress 6.6 or higher
- PHP 7.4 or higher
- Imagick PHP extension with WebP support enabled (ask your host to confirm if you’re unsure)
Code Structure
Built using WordPress coding standards, PSR-4 autoloading, and modular, reusable components.
